Blu Knight
Blu Knight
I have to tell you my inspiration for the ‘name’ of this painting. Completely abstract, as you’ll see — it’s a hotel. There is a hotel named Radisson Blu — my wife have stayed there a few times. And I love the “Blue” neon lighting that’s in that hotel. So, when I saw the photo I used as a model (National Geographic), I immediately thought of those neon blue lights at the Raddison Blu. The spelling “B-L-U” is the same as the hotel name.
The second part of the name is Knight. This isn’t going to be any surprise, but as a Batman fan (huge!), the only thing I could think of that stalks the “night”, was the Dark Knight himself — Batman. So, in big kitty version, this one is simply Blu Knight.
For this painting (Digital paint), I used Acrylic. The type of brushes I used were dry, jagged, and a few others I cannot recall. I stayed away from wet brushes or anything with any type of acetone. To me, it creates too much of a blur. I also stay away from Airbrush for the same reason, unless of course I need a certain type effect — although the only Airbrush I DID use here is the blue around my signature.
And finally, which probably should have been first — my subject’s eyes. I wanted to be sure, like my model, the eyes were engaging. My friend Chris (hi Chris — and Lori!) used a word I thought was perfect — “alluring”. And for that reason, I am dedicating this painting to my friends Chris and Lori! They are a wonderful couple with wonderful kids! They are also probably two of my best fans! So, thank you guys!

Note: Thank you for taking time to view my site and my various paintings. If you are one that likes to look for my secret signature — yes, it IS in the painting. If you are new and don’t know what this is — I write about it here on my site. It’s just a little something I put in a lot of paintings to denote it’s MY work, kinda like a watermark of sorts. I don’t mind at all if people use my art, just don’t claim it to be theirs — reason for my little secret signature.
