Lion-a-Round
This painting was a lot of fun. I have a whole “Cat Series” here on this site. I think the big cats are my absolute favorite. So, it was an easy decision to tackle this guy. I thought instantly the painting should be named “Lion-a-Round”, a little twist of wording. My wife would say that should be my nickname as well!
I used various different brushes to get this beast down. This is a digital oil I completed using ProCreate on my Apple iPad, using an Apple Pencil. This is how 99% of the paintings I have on this site is completed. I literally plan using a sketch that I create based on a ‘model’. In this case, it is a photograph I found about a year ago. I will find the original photographer and give them appropriate credit. I don’t sell any of these paintings — pure leisure. However, I need to start cataloging what I use and credit whatever model I used.
But, I want everyone to know this is NOT Artificial Intelligence (AI). I like what I see with AI — but I prefer on using good ole fashioned brush to canvas — in this case, the digital kind.
For this painting, I used a mix of oil brushes and some digital “material” brushes. My main brush for this one was Spectra. Also, I used a flat brush, a dry brush, and a drop of airbrush here/there for shadow accents.
Be sure to check out my other paintings. Drop me a line sometime. My email address is [email protected].
Meanwhile — Love one another and keep God in your heart!
Enjoy!
