TmagikArt Summer 2021 Paintings
Hootie
Alright, so the name isn't that original. But there is a small story surrounding the naming of this white owl. I have not painted in awhile (since Christmas 2020). Finally, I decided to paint since my creative flow has returned. And recently I bought an Albino Parotlett. I named her "Angel". She is pure white and fits in the palm of my hand. So, I was kind of wanting to paint her, but decided to create something a little more dramatic than my 'Angel' sitting on her perch, lol.
At the same time, my wife and I were preparing to take a few days off away from the house (as Covid winds down). Well, we decided to go to an outdoor concert. So, the very day we left, I finished this painting -- didn't name it, but completed it. Turns out we went to see Darrius Rucker. He is an African-American Country Singer. I didn't know who he was, but my wife did. So, I asked her -- 'who exactly is he and what does he sing that I may recognize'? She said, "You, know him -- he's from "Hootie and the Blowfish" (from the 1990's). THEN, I knew who he was. But 'country music' -- odd, I thought. However, the concert was very good and he was quite entertaining and engaging. So, later as I was thinking about my painting and what to name it -- it hit me, "Hootie". How unoriginal for the naming of an owl, but it gives me great memories and denotes the time and place I finished this painting during the Summer of 2021.
This was a nice little project and I had fun painting "Hootie". This painting marks the beginning and end of a few things. The END of COVID-19! Finally able to get out and about and be 'some-what' normal. 'Hootie' also marks the beginning of another round of paintings for me, as I have already started my next one! I hope to finish and post it here soon.
For now, enjoy this new painting and at least one doesn't have to look at 'Santa' on my website during the Summer!
Take care, be well and thank you for visiting Tmagik Art!
